Take a course in math and listen to the professor talk about the iraq war. That's your colleges for you.

I think it would be good to develop young minds to reach their fullest potential. I enjoyed reading the history you provided! sam

It would be nice
if students had the luxury of spending time over questions such as the meaning of life.  A liberal arts education is supposed to include a broad exposure to ideas and inspire such deep thoughts, but so much is demanded in the modern world that few students really have time for simple contemplation.  Maybe that's what retirement is for nowadays.

The meaning of life is natural to enquiring minds. Just getting a life takes all the time we have and we forget all about purpose. Students should enquire on their own because academia will pour more muck into people's heads...like evolution theory!

Stonedead

Overall, I think that American colleges and universities have changed for the better since the Civil War. Thanks for the report!

(By the way, I have responded to your comment on DR. Flew's renunciation of Atheism. If you are interested in reading it, you should know where to find it.)
