yes, Glennb, I think that we want power evolved, or transformed or transmogrified or somesuch.

Change is scary for everyone, even the changer. May we all learn to embrace it and hang on as our nation moves another generation forward in time.

Kabu, Robert Kennedy, who predicted this very thing at just about this time in history, over 40 years ago, AND MLK would both be so proud of the advances within our 'reluctant to change' nation.

Let the old people go drink tea and let's have the youngsters climb up into the engine compartment and begin to learn to steer this nation.

yes, katray4, we all hope that this momentum turns into homework assignments for us Americans, things to do within the community to make it better from the bottom up....old retired people, Boomers and young unemployed people, maybe to start with?

Well written piece. But my sense is that President-elect Sen. Obama is a realist who uses idealistic notions to get to power. Power destroyed is useless power (ask the South African)? I hope I am right?

Very good and relatable article, Benz; though I voted for/support Obama,

(yearning for the day when Independent parties can really have a chance of succeeding - Nader wasn't even on the ballot here) I agree with many of the writer's views concerning the monied, corporate powerbase still intact behind the scene. Now energized and revitalized hopefully this people power can truly effect change. That said, I am proud to be witness to this historic event. We must stay aware and determined! Thank you for sharing.
